DOGS - Fay Hutchings

I very much enjoyed this variety, judging for the first time, i thought the quality in the dogs was very good.  Presentation was excellent in most.  Thank you to my steward Paul Hayes, and for the Longhaired Committee for the invitation and to the ladies for a lovely lunch.  I was thrilled that my co-judge Helen Walters was in agreement with me for the boys to take the top awards today.  Thank you for bringing your lovely dogs for me to judge.

Veteran Dog (2 Entries) Abs 1

1st: BOOTH & ELSEY Abbalongdat the Visitor ShCM
Big Boy 9 1/2 year old Red in lovely coat and condition, had a lovely head and eye shape, good front and shoulders, moved well and a lovely outline both standing and moving.  In challenge for Best Veteran, River Rumpus moved with more gusto and extension behind.

Minor Puppy Dog (2 Entries) Abs 1
1st: METCALFE-BILGIN Metadale Monteray Jack
Nice sized red baby,  nice head and eye shape, good front and shoulders, Moved well, although little unsure of his surroundings. Nice prospect.

Puppy Dog (2 Entries) Abs 0
1st: DARE Darsoms Zocratees

What a cracking puppy, Red, 9 months, Gorgeous head and eye, Superb presentation, as were all from this kennel.  Lovely outline standing and on the move, moved beautifully for one so young, A dog for the upper house, I have no doubt, pleased my co-judged agreed to put him Best Puppy in Breed over his equally gorgeous sister, and thrilled to see him go Best Puppy in Show at his first ever show.  Loved him.
2nd: CHAPMAN Brysdax Christian Dior at Melminds

More immature then 1st. front good, although short in upper arm, Good ribbing, moved well in profile, but needs to strengthen in rear movement.

Junior Dog (2 Entries) Abs 0
1st: HUTTON Abbilis Theoden by Dachalune

B/T Nice quality boy. well constructed front, excellent bone and feet, good hindquarters. A little over exuberant at times on the move, which affected his topline at times. But when settled gave a lovely picture.

2nd: BOOTH & ELSEY Romeo Rude to Abbalondat (Imp Ltu)
Preferred the head on this red boy, more continental in type.  Excellent presentation, moved well, just a little to tall on the leg for me.

Yearling Dog (3 Entries) Abs 0
1st:  DARE Ch Swansford Lionellador Darsoms

Another dog Superbly presented Gorgeous Red with masculine head with a correct eye shape,, Good Shoulders & reach of neck leading into a super topline, excellent hindquarters which he used to propel himself around  the ring with a excellent outline. Awarded him Dog CC, and again with my co-judge,  Best of Breed, and finishing the day with Best in Show.  Congratulations, one of many I'm sure.

2nd: BUSHELL Ranglewood Harvest Hops, Difficult decision between 2nd and 3rd, which on reading catalogue are litter brothers, this one, at first was apprehensive on the table, but after giving him a go around and putting him back on the table, he was much better and I awarded him 2nd over his litter brother.  Little to choose between the two, just preferred the head and profile outline of this one.
3rd: GARLICK Ranglewood Harvest Song

Post Graduate Dog (2 Entries) Abs 0
1st:  METCALFE-BILGIN Metadale Mateus

Nice sized red dog with good front, good shoulders and ribbing Well angulated hindquarters and he was sound on the move, unfortunately having a bad hair day, and would like to see him move with more enthusiasm.

2nd: DIMON Labbadax Inspiration for Dimerlin

deep red dog with houndy head, strong neck leading into well placed shoulders, enough ribbing, Moved ok and nice tight feet but lacked muscletone.

Limit Dog (6 Entries) Abs 1
1st: CROSS & JOHNSON Africandawns Night Lement

A male that catches the eye, Red dog good ground clearance. Has good reach of neck, ribbing carried well back, Used his hindquarters to good affect giving a lovely outline on the move, and standing. Well presented and handled.  Pushed hard by 2nd

2nd: STREET & TOFT Ranglewood Lawsonia

Another red dog, lovely shape standing and in profile, good free mover, good front, nice head and eye and reach of neck.  Super feet, just preferred head of 1st.
3rd:  CHAPMAN Melminds Zsylvester

Open Dog (3 Entries) Abs 0
1st:  BENNETT's Shardaroba's Country File

Red dog, lovely bone, nice head and eye shape, lovely reach of neck, into well laid shoulders, lovely outline standing and on the move.  just needs to mature in body, and im sure will be in the upper house.  I have to say he was the best Muscled dog on the day. Super presentation.
2nd: DARE Darsoms Zamson

another nice red  from this kennel, loved his size, nice head with houndy expression.  good hindquarters, and lovely outline on the move.

3rd:  GARLICK Ranglewood Arashi

Open Dog Black & Tan (2 Entries) Abs 0

Lovely balanced dog.  has good front, and nice reach of neck.  Nice head and eye.  Very good ribbing.  Had a lovely outline standing and moving, and he can really move, and this is what steered him to Best Veteran and Best Veteran in Show, Congratulations.

2nd: BREARLEY Labbadax Eyecatchin Shadow at Xanadax

Good Conformation, and in lovely coat and condition, not the head and expression of 1st. moved ok

Open Dog Any other Colour (1 Entry) Abs 0
1st:  DIMON Labbadax Inspiration for Dimerlin was 2nd in Post Graduate.

Champion Dog (3 Entries) Abs 2
1st:  ROBERTS Ch Swansford Kestador

Super sized red dog, gorgeous outline standing and moving, Super bone, nice male head, Good shoulders, and enough forechest.  lovely spring of rib, well angulated hindquarters, lovely profile movement with good reach and drive, really enjoying his time in the ring.  Superb presentation. just preferred on the last run off the rear action of the Yearling dog. but he was very close up.  a well deserved Champion and the RCC today.

BITCHES -Helen Walters

Class 12 Veteran Bitch (3) 1st Garlick’s CH RANGLEWOOD GENISTA 9.1/2 yr old bitch in beautiful condition, the soundest of movers excelling in rear drive, lovely elegant outline, not too big, keeps a good outline on the move. 2nd Sutton’s LILLYMAI FLOWER BY DAMAI well angulated bitch with the most stunning head, a little wider behind preferred the overall movement of the class winner.3rd Dimon’s DIMERLIN ISOLDE

Class 13 Minor Puppy Bitch (4)(2abs) 1st Metcalfe-Bilgin’s METADALE MOANA very pretty puppy, still has plenty of puppy fat, very nice overall shape with good lay of shoulder, and lovely rear angles, plently of pro-sternum, well filled in front which many lack, good length and spring of rib, very promising puppy. 2nd Lawrence’s PEVERLEIGH AUTUMNAL ROSE his puppy has some nice quality’s but still very immature, lovely head with dark eyes and houndy expression, needs to tighten up on the move.

Class 14 Puppy Bitch (2) 1st Robert’s DARSOMS ZARDONNAY SWANSFORD love the type of this bitch puppy very chunky plenty of bone, with text book feet, well laid shoulders, leading into good length and well sprung ribs, plenty of muscle tone, won her class on her front and shoulder construction – one to watch. 2nd Fosset’s BRYSDAX COCO MADEMOISELLE also a promising puppy taller in type, beautiful long elegant head, move parallel coming and going holding her topline on the move, needs to fill out in front, no doubt this will come with maturity.

Class 15 Junior Bitch (4) 1st Cross’ GLASVEY DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR LOGGETA very eye catching bitch, really liked the size and type of this bitch stunning head correct bite, superb length of neck leading into well laid shoulders, correct ribbing, flowed around the ring on the move, could do with a little more confidence and a little more coat to complete the picture 2nd Chapman’s MELMINDS MARINA DIAMONDS nicely angulated bitch with a classic outline, a little chubby, sound to go over her best quality’s being her front and shoulder assembly, moves parallel, preferred the overall finish of the class winner. 3rd Clarkes TEKALHAUS DIAMOND LIFE (AI)

Class 16 Yearling Bitch (4) 1st Garlick’s RANGLEWOOD TRICK OR TREAT black and tan bitch who excelled in front assembly plenty of pro-sternum well filled in with nice tight elbows, her rear angles mirrored her front angles, with excellent muscle tone, in beautiful condition, flowed around the ring on the move, pushed hard for the RCC . 2nd Thompson’s RANGLEWOOD HARVEST CAROL was really impressed with this bitch, very similar in type to class winner with the same qualities fantastic front assembly, lovely classic type, needs a little more enthusiasm on the move but not a lot to chose between her and the class winner. 3rd Clarke’s TEKALHAUS DIAMOND LIFE (AI)

Class 17 Post Graduate Bitch (4)(1abs) 1st Sutton & Pankhurst’s LILIA ROSE AT DAMAI this girl won this class on her movement, the soundest mover of the class, nice head good eye shape and good bite, lacked in furnishings. 2nd Booth & Elsley’s RAPAELE RUDE TO ABBALONGDAT, beautifully presented with the most fantastic coat unfortunately found her to be little short in rib and could do with more forechest. 3rd Cheese’ SUECASEUS JULIET

Class 18 Limit Bitch (7) Metcalfe-Bilgin’s METADALE MIDSUMMER DREAM not a particularly glamorous bitch, but very sounds to go over, she has fantastic length of rib, which unfortunately a lot lack, she has text book front and shoulder assembly with nice tight elbows allowing her the reach required on the move, super follow through to balanced hind quaters which she uses to the full, holds a lovely outline on the move. 2nd Johnson & Cross’ AFRICANDAWNS NIGHT WIZARD also a very sound bitch excelling in rear drive moving very parallel, eye catching a very sound to go over, a little loose in front movement. 3rd Garlick’s RANGLEWOOD LAUREL

Class 19 Open Bitch (2) 1st Dare’s DARSOMS ZEUNICE beautiful red bitch who comes to life on the move, she can really drive out, nice compact body not over exaggerated in any way, really loved her length of neck and classic outline, real quality, unfortunately was blowing her coat and didn’t have the finish of the CC winner on the day, but I was really impressed with her RCC. 2nd Chapman’s MELMINDS MALEFICENT well filled in front with plenty of pro-sternum, a little forward placed in shoulder, held her topline well on the move.

Class 20 Special Open, Black & Tan Bitch (5)(1abs) 1st Thompson’s RANGLEWOOD HARVEST CAROL 2nd Sutton’s LILLYMAI FLOWER BY DAMAI 3rd Hutton’s DACHLUNE ARAXIA

Class 21 Special Open Any Other Colour Bitch (3) 1st Clarkes’ TEKALHAUS MILLION TO ONE ShCM taller type bitch but in proportion, nice and cobby not too long, good length of rib with nice short loin, best front construction of the class with nice tight elbows, pleasing head would prefer a touch more underjaw. 2nd Sutton & Pankhurst’s LILIA ROSE AT DAMAI 3rd Boyle & Wren’s ZARCREST AVA GARDNER

Class 22 Champion Bitch (2)(1ab) 1st Roberts CH SWANSFORD GEMMADORA this girl can really move, very classic outline lower in type, but still with plenty of ground clearance, very feminine head gorgeous expression, with fantastic dark almond eyes, enough neck leading into well laid back shoulders, excelling in pro-sternum which she does not loose on the move, like many do. Well muscled rear end which she uses to her full potential when moving, excellent condition. CC
