Ben's Tale.
Ben is a 10 year old mini smooth dachshund
who was collected from Huddersfield by Ann and Arnold Derry. His lady owner had
died and the son had decided the family with several young children could not
cope - so Ben had to go! He was an extremely good natured little dog, albeit
full of fleas and a very scurvy coat which was in poor condition. He also
needed several teeth extracting and a good bath. He is pictured with his new
owner at Chesterfield and they were right for each other from the moment they
met - as the gentleman's daughter said 'They are a perfect match'.
Daisy is a 10 year old wire who is exceptionally gentle and now a slow comfortable old girl - Mandy is a 6 year old big mini smooth was very nervous and relied totally on Daisy for any courage she could find- they were in fact inseparable. They had been in a boarding kennel in Worcester for three months as their owner had been ill and unfortunately died. There was no other family so when the money ran out the kennel owner said they would be put down if 'Rescue' would not take them in the next two days. Mandy Dance collected them from the kennels and Marion Spavin kept them for two days until someone could bring take them to Val Skinner. They have since been re-homed as a pair and are very much loved by their new family in Doncaster and the mini smooth (Mandy) has with great patience, become a very happy, confident girl. In fact, she goes to obedience and loves it!
